Alert. Hard Drive not Found
About a month ago I started getting this alert. It typically happened in the middle of the night. When I tried to reboot I got a IP4 PXE error and IP6 PXE error (I have no idea what those are, even after reading half a dozen articles).
I found that I could reboot if I changed the boot sequence to put my hard drive first. Even that no longer works.
I've upgraded to the latest bios but that didn't do any good. The drive does appear in the drive listing in the F2 settings and and I'm able to see it if I boot to a command prompt using a USB drive. For some reason my machine isn't seeing it when I boot.
I also slapped a hard drive in from a different computer and it booted okay and this drive booted in the other computer (permanently swapping them is not an option).
When I try to boot I get some verbiage about PXE initializing and establishing a link and then a line with a MAC address and DHCP and spinning bar.
After it times out I land on a screen that says:
Intel Boot Agent GE V1.5.50
Intel Boot Agent PXE Base Code (PXE-2.1 Build 092)
Client MAC Address [address] GUID [more characters]
PXE E-53: No Boot Filename Received
PXE M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent
No boot device found. Press any key to reboot the machine.
I'd appreciate any tips you can offer. I'm not a techie plus I'm currently dealing with covid and my brain isn't working real great so plain English would be really helpful.

bios boot sequence by default contains network boot options which are the IP4 or IP6 PXE.
If bios used to work but now no longer, it may have reset to default due to bad battery.
Try replace CMOs battery with a brand new one and clear CMOs settings on motherboard. Then enter bios>boot priority then disable PXE boot. If successful you should not see them again.

Alas, that didn't work. I still have the same issue.

Re: No boot device found
I think you said you can see the hdd in bios. so the msg "no boot device found" means the hdd does not have a boot sector to launch OS from. there can be multiple reasons. one reason could be your pc is set to boot in UEFI mode but your hdd os was installed via legacy mode, or vice versa. other reasons include hdd error that corrupted boot file.
at this point if you all want is to boot into os on hdd, consider do a clean install of Win10 on hdd which deletes all old partitions and you will lose all old data.

If the HDD is bad, there's no fix for it. One then needs a new HDD/SSD. Hopefully all needed items are backed up outside of PC.
Can try running diagnostics. Upon startup, immediately use F12 for the menu that has boot and diagnostics. I suggest running 'full' diagnostics. If 'quick' doesn't find anything, then full has to be run anyway. Can always let it run overnight. It may take a few hours.
