Attention: Unsupported Video Configuration Detected
In my case it was an OptiPlex with both dedicated and onboard video devices. Simply opening the tower and disconnecting (taking out) the dedicated graphics card eliminated the question of which device to use and shut up the error, proving the software presenting this error is not great. Truly obnoxious to have to open up and jostle hardware over an artificial problem, but still a simple enough fix.
Placing this question with answer already here as the relevant extant thread is pointlessly read-only.

I got the same problem. After removing screen for another PC, I reconnected it again to my Optiplex 790 to the exact same vga input having made no changes to the pc or screen (no new cards or anything, just the same old thing), and I got this message which I don’t know how deal with. Many thanks for your help!

I have Dell Optiplex 7010 with Windows 7 and I have two monitors and when I connect one I get Unsupported Video Configuration Detected and can't fix it because my other monitor uses the DVI port and my PC does not have HDMI.
