Cannot access BIOS (Optiplex 3080 Micro)
Got a Dell Optiplex 3080 Micro with Windows 11 Pro installed. The Monitor is a Lenovo ThinkVision, connected via Display Port.
When I start the 3080, the screen stays black until the Windows Welcome is displayed. As this is irritating I would rather have some BIOS messages displayed during start, so I see there is progress.
I figured that this is probably controlled by a BIOS setting ... but now I can't access BIOS.
When I press PF2 after starting the PC, the screen stays black forever.
What am I doing wrong? To me it looks as if there is no display port support at the time BIOS is entered.
BIOS-Version/-Date is Dell Inc. 2.27.0, 02.09.2024.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you redxps630. The battery was actually below 3V, but the replacement didn't help.
I tried a more recent display (Lenovo ThinkVision T23i-20) and there it works. I see the Dell logo at startup and see the BIOS menu.
So the problem is the older ThinkVision LT2252p Wide. There is probably some negotiation ongoing between the PC and the display, that the LT2252p from 2012 doesn't handle correctly.
Looks like it is time for a new display.

this is often reported and could be caused by corrupted cmos setting.
try remove cmos battery for 1 min or longer then place it back

Of course I left the new CR2032 in the PC after the replacement. Nothing to save here when running the 2.95V battery another couple of month.

Update:
While it failed with a Lenovo ThinkVision LT2252pwD (2572-MB6) it works now with a very similar Display Lenovo ThinkVision L2251p Wide (2572-HD6), although according to ChatGPT the L2251p is about two years older than the other one, that fails. Hard to understand.

It may not be the monitor model but that particular monitor giving you issue.

@redxps630 Possibly, though it is strange that the monitor works perfectly once Windows is up.
The message for anybody who comes along here with the same problem in the future: Try another monitor.
