DDR DDR2, 3, 4, 5 voltages

something i did not know before

DDR2 memory operates at a voltage of 1.8 volts :

compared to 2.5 to 2.8 volts for DDR, SDRAM: Uses a voltage of 3.3 V

DDR3 voltage: 1.5 v, DDR3L memory operates at either 1.35 volts or 1.5 volts, depending on the configuration:

DDR4 voltage: 1.2 v

DDR5 voltage: 1.1 v

I know... right?

"Bear in mind though, simply because DDR3 runs with less voltage, it does not mean that the chips will run cooler. In fact, that’s the exact opposite of the situation, as they often run noticeably hotter."

DDR3 RAM consumes less power and produces less heat than DDR2 RAM at the same clock speed (e.g. DDR3 vs DDR2 RAM that is both running at 1,066 MHz). However there is a catch: RAM with higher clock speeds have higher power consumption so DDR3 RAM running at 2,133 MHz will still drain more power than DDR2 RAM at 1,066 MHz.
