Dell optiplex 3010 MT

Hi all,

just wondered if this graphics card would fit in my dell?

SAPPHIRE RADEON RX 460 NITRO OC GRAPHICS CARD, 4GB GDDR5,which is 75w

and my power supply is 275w I think?

Thanks.

playing current games and 40w limits the choices.  The best value is the GT1030.

The Gigabyte version is fine and its $90

Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 GV-N1030D5-2GL

Below that would be fanless 2 Gig Radeon HD5450 this card however is 8 times slower in games than the GT1030

DDR5 doesnt exist

https://www.jedec.org/category/technology-focus-area/main-memory-ddr3-ddr4-sdram

The JEDEC DDR5 standard is currently in development in JEDEC's JC-42 Committee for Solid State Memories. Its not been released its not real.

GDDR5 is legit.

https://www.jedec.org/document_search?search_api_views_fulltext=DDR5

So the DDR5 may in fact be DDR4 version

I would steer clear of DDR5 description.

GDDR5 cant be a mistake or typo because there is no such thing as GDDR4.

Always wanted to learn Cesky because the ladies from there are gorgeous.

Doubtful that it can fit in the MT--too big-- and requires a psu of at least 350w. See specs--

Dell optiplex MT takes full height gpu.  But it can not take a full length gpu more than 1” longer than the width of motherboard because its 3.5” hdd bay is in the way.  You can get a short gpu that may fit.  Alternatively you can dismount the hdd bay to create room for standard length gpu (and try to mount hdd in external odd bay via adapter).

this video also shows the physical limitation.

The 30w GT 1030 comes quite regularly recommended by one of our Rockstars in this forum for various Optiplex's.

Another question,

can a dell 8900 psu be compatible with my 3010? It's going really cheap!

DELL 8900 460 watt PSU, 80 PLUS Bronze

what OS,?

RADEON RX 460 NITRO OC GRAPHICS CARD

why would it not Fit? it is small but you never posted link to your card.  (12 makers huge sub-versions)

75watts is just off slot, and is mostly easy .

275watt PSU can do 75watts. why would it not (surely 200watts is plenty for the mobo) heck a SSD drive used adds more spare watts got one? most folks now upgraded to SSD long ago , you too.? way before GPU upgrades.

w10 support this card

is your PC running boot hdd0 legacy MBR or secureboot, GPT mode. I do not know. that. only you do.

every post here goes the same way,  we beg for case sizes and all answers end up wrong

why must we do that, IDK..

FIT means nothing at all lacking CASE SIZE, for a FACT.

i could in fact take huge box FULL of GPU cards, 100's  of model.s

and will fit and work in the MT Box.

for that matter.

see this.  this post is only for MT> oK:

20 thousand hits endless and me posting this 100s of time,s to no avail..

sure many of those are PSU upgrades over 75watt cards, sure.

the MT is not low profile why would you think this?

the MT Minitower is on the left and is a full height card PC, 120mm not 80mm.

are you confused?   the PCs on the right are all GPU HAM STRUNG, limited BIG time to impossible.

You're right.  An RX 470 definitely won't work with you current PSU.  It'll need at least a 400w PSU minimum.

As for make and model - one of our other experts or Rockstars can easily recommend.

Also:  RX 470 + Optiplex MT + YouTube

Optiplex 9020 MT + 600w PSU + YouTube

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w4wPc5LORbQ

They all use EVGA PSU's.  Pick one with wires already attached to PSU vs. modular and having to plug in each cable.  Something speedstep reminds people, it isn't just total watts, but making sure all the power rails have enough power.

You also asked if you could use the XPS 8900 460 watt PSU and redxps630 answered "Yes."  I believe the answer is still yes.  You'd probably have the easiest time with that one.

I have sapphire pulse RX 470 4gb 150w,so I don't trust the PSU,so I have gone with low profile Sapphie GT 1030 2gb and once I am confident enough I will change the PSU!

any suggestions on the make and modal of the PSU?

thanks
