Dell Optiplex 3080 MT 2.5" HDD bracket

I would like to buy 2.5" HDD bracket(s) for my Dell OPTIPLEX 3080 MT computer(s).

The service manual shows that it's made of metal, but my computer(s) don't have them by default.

Until now I haven't found any online, nor do I know the part number.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!!

I found the Dell part number by looking up a 3080 tower system spec

9T3F1 ASSY,BRKT,HD,2.5,CADDY,MT,D10

Dell also sells screws for the 2.5 sata drive as well as sata cables

9NRJX SCR,M3X3.5MM,PNH,MSCR,ZPS 2

756F2 ASSY,CBL,SATA,HDD,BLUE,MT,D10 1

the entire assembly is

575-BCDW : 2.5 inch hard drive Caddy

It is a new part and may be hard to find.  You can not even google a real picture of it now.  Call Dell to see if they can sell you a new one.  Be prepared it may cost a lot.  If too pricy, get a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter so you can install 2.5 in the 3.5 bay.

Thanks, but the ebay link is for an SFF not for an MT.

I am aware of the possibility of putting the 2.5" drive into a 3.5" cage would solve the problem.

But I am looking for the original cage for not "infinite" money, so something that one could find on ebay at low price.

Besides the original cage accommodates 2 drives.

Just give it some time and you will find the bracket on sale.  Meanwhile it seems it may be possible to use slightly older style Optiplex 3070 2.5” caddy (up to 2) temporarily to install in the 3080 2.5” bay.  Not sure of this but Dell hdd caddy is sometimes forward compatible although this would be off the label use.  3070 is optiplex 5 series and 3080 is 6 series. Chassis design changed from 5 to 6 series.

Re: 2.5 in 3.5. You may use Dell 3.5 to 2.5 caddy to install two 2.5 simultaneously in the 3.5 bay. Downside of this is, Dell has already preinstalled two exact length sata cables for the empty 2.5” bay, which is usually how Dell does it.

3080 MT mounts 3.5 drive and only 1 onto the front face of the Tower. Front faceplate must be removed. You need 4 6-32 screws. There is NO caddy for the 3.5 drive.

ASK@DELL-Chris M  what the part numbers are.

You might be able to adapt this to work.

2 X 2.5 drives are mounted in the top metal tray no caddy for that.

Re: 3080MT looks different inside

correct. I realized there is subtle difference between 3080 and 7080MT both inside and outside.

If I had a "top metal tray" in my Optiplex 3080 MT than this thread would not exist.

I don't.

That's why I started asking questions.

I would like to buy a metal tray cheap. Found none on eBay. Yet.

I regret buying this  , every new model they tend to add a part that is a hassle to find, this!!

This page was my first hit on a Google search for Optiplex 3080 2.5" drive bracket.  I just received one of these systems, with the intent of installing two 1Tb 2.5" SATA SSD's.  To my dismay, there were no slots in this midtower.

After reading the comment about a 3.5" drive fitting, I pulled out one of these that I had on hand, and I can confirm that this $7.99 bracket off Amazon will mount in the spot for a 3.5" drive, allowing two 2.5" drives to be mounted in the system:

It even comes with the screws.
