Dell Thermal Sensors...
I recently picked up a Dell Optiplex 9020 off a buy/sell site, and it seems like its been scavenged for some parts, like the ambient temperature sensor from the front panel.
I've had a look on the web, and I've found a couple of sensors that might work:

So my question is, does it really matter which one I go for? Will they both function the same in the PC, or will I have to get the specific one for my model?
I don't see why the cheaper sensor, that has exactly the same connectors WOULDN'T work, but let me know

Hi motorrad166,
I can't see any reason why the cable shouldn't work as fundamentally they are temperature sensor cables with the same connector to the motherboard. The only difference I can see between the less expensive cable and the one designed for the 9020 is the chassis clip on the picture and the length of the cable itself. The first picture of the 960 cable doesn't look like it's very long, however the pictures I have of the part on our system tools suggest it is as long as the 2nd picture.
Here's the link to the 9020 service manual that shows the process for installing a thermal sensor on pages 22-23
You can see the thermal sensor clip that is required to connect it to the chassis. Do you have that existing clip on the chassis inside your system?

Hi Motorrad,
After doing some further investigating into this issue I would recommend the cable designed for the system in order for the temperature sensor to effectively regulate the system correctly.

What's inside the sensor, diode?
I put a diode, a message that there is no sensor is missing but the temperature is giving out incorrectly.
Can someone make out and see what's inside?
It seems to me too expensive to pay $ 7 for 2 wires and with one
diode inside for $ 0.01
