Gpu Upgrade For Dell optiplex 5050 sff
So Im Thinking Of Getting A rx 6400 lp For My Optiplex And Ive Heard That You Need An Upgraded Psu to Run It so is there any good upgrades for the psu from 180w to like 280w?

i think ill stick with the 180w and use the 1030 lp and find the thinnest (Looks like the Nvidia verson) and try it in the bottom slot and if it doesnt fit ill use the smaller slot

According to Hardware Corner here, the 6400 lp is one of the compatible GPU with the stock PSU.

I Found that but its just because other people said they had issues with the higher power draw of the rx 6400

Due to the limited PSU, the 5050 spec sheet only has a couple of options for GPU's:
I'd only use the R7450 in the MT since it's 65w.
More ideas:
Though it's within Dell specs, It's not surprising to me that some say 50w RX -400 is too much for 180w PSU.

Dell 360w TFX psu with 6+4 pin is a good upgrade for 5050 sff. Recently two users had validated Dell 500w TFX psu with 6+4+4 pin in 7050/5060 too.

This topic had in length discussion before. 5050 sff uses same chassis as 7050sff
https://www.dell.com/community/Optiplex-Desktops/Dell-Optiplex-7050-SFF-Best-video-card-alternative-for-gaming/td-p/8107869
7050 SFF has same chassis as 7070 SFF. Watch this video and its part list which tells you best currently available gpu list that is physically compatible with the SFF case.

List video cards will work with this system.
1.) GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1650 OC 4GB, GV-N1656OC-4GL Video Card
2.) Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 OC GDDR5 Low Profile
3.) Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti OC Low Profile 4GB GDDR5 128 Bit PCI-E Graphic Card (GV-N105TOC-4GL)
4.) MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDRR5 Low Profile Graphics Card (GTX 1650 4GT LP OC)

360w psu has 6+4 white pin plus 6 black pin. The black 6 pin does not have to plug in. It will 100% work.
500w psu has 6+4+4 white pin. One 4 pin is not plugged in. There is conflicting report on various models of 500w. To be safe do not experiment w it now.

There are different models of low profile RX6400. Those w thick heatsink need to be in top x4 slot. If card has thin heatsink it might fit bottom x16 slot. The card bus interface is PCIe 4.0x4. so the top x4 slot is perfectly fine.
powerwise a 360w psu is sufficient for RX6600. Np for 6400.
Load Wattage: 312 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 362 W

If you're asking if the GPU is not plugged in though it may require extra connections - Won't stop PSU from working but will stop GPU card from working. Many aftermarket PSU's, and PSU's in Dell Precision's, have extra connectors for GPU's; meaning they work even if not all GPU card connections are used.
However, unused MB connections can cause PSU problems. Hopefully that all makes sense. : )
