hard drive doesn't appear in boot sequence

Still the system cannot detect the hdd

I am having same exact problem, any hard drive I put in it with windows already installed or formatted it does not show up in the "bootable hard drive" list, but it shows the hard drive in the system information and the diagnostics say everything working fine.  I dont see anywhere here a way to simply add the hard drive into the list, I have done every suggestion I did see here and none of that did anything helpful.  It still will only recognize the original hard drive it came with for some reason.  I have 5 hard drives I have tried, between ssd, HDD, Nvmi 2.0, none of them showed up in the boot list.  Please someone who knows what they are talking about respond and help here this is ridiculous, who created such a horrible BIOS i have never seen such an awful setup in my life and I have built over 50 custom rigs without ANY issues.  Sigh, what happened to Dell...

Which information that you followed and failed?  If you have computer issue and needing help from community, just start your own thread.  It's ill-mannered behavior for thread capping or hijacking someone else thread, regardless if it was solved.

From what you have described, your issue is with using non-compatible bootable drives and/or incorrect boot mode settings.

Format and erease all drives this will fix it!

Make new partitions and than next->next->finish :)

Same issue. It's not with windows for me but an Ubuntu distro, with grub as bootloader. I've installed many times the bootloader and the EFI partition seems to be okay, FAT file system and correct flags. But nothing. I've also tried to update the bios, reset, only uefi activated. Tried almost everything!

By any chance did you try NTFS instead of FAT32?

@redxps630​ - Thank You. I have never really used UEFI. Just preferred legacy. But now that I see how UEFI works it makes it easier. After reading your explanation, I saw where W10 install disk created a 3rd partition which is where the UEFI information resides (I assume).

The SSD drive was being seen by the BIOS in the list of SATA devices, but was not in my list of devices available at bootup. But with the new partition it is now being seen. At least now I can get the SSD drive to be seen in the boot manager screen.

GUYS I FOUND THE SOLUTION, probably this could be the solution also for you. The problem is that the EFI partition formatted in fat32 (or fat16 but this if i'm right does not work with the latest windows versions) have minimum sizes, and if you create it too small the OS could not recognize it... but also the BIOS!

I changed my ssd, and I formatted the disk with 4096Kb sector size instead of 512. This means that the minimum size of the fat32 partition increase. The minimum partition size of FAT32 drive is calculated as sector_size*65527.

Solution to not have problems: create always a partition that is 270Mb or bigger. My partition was smaller and after the resize, puff, the bios recognize it and the list of the uefi OS installed on my disk at the first next boot! Some Operative Systems (and that is not a bios problem), needs a partition of minimum 500mb. So if you have space make it 500Mb and you are sure to be out of trouble.
