Issue adjusting 1024X768 projector resolution with Optiplex 990 desktop
Hi All -thank you in advance for the support.
I've a issue connecting Optiplex 990 desktop - to Infocus IN144XV projector with native resolution 1024X768, with resolution selected on control panel with pnp monitor - the resolution remains at 1024X768 but once the projector is connected it switches to 1366X768 and do not get the option for selecting 1024X768.
While connecting any other desktop or laptop - we are able to select 1024X768 resolution with the same projector.
Any help solving the issue appreciated.
Best,
Ramesha

windows 10"? no OS stated, sure windows. but which one?
WUXGA (1920 x 1200)max,
native is 1024x768
did you lose the remote?
are you reading the manual in it, I am), did you set the PROJ to factory defaults.using the VGA monitor to PROJECTOR VGA port marked monitor out, and see factory setting first.
the manuals are here,
https://www.infocus.com/products/in114xv
on the windows 10 screen we Right click desktop
and set display resolution to 1024, just like that.
if your PC 990 has no proper video driver this can fail. did you make sure that is correct.
the 990 can have iGPU port and VGA card, which you have IDK, but the driver needs to be correct. for that port.
always connect a VGA (114x) monitor to the 114x projector , monitor out port, first. and reset the PROJECTOR first then set all things in the PROJ as you want it then last connect the PROJ, computer 1 port VGA to the PC.
and last set windows resolution to match.the projector (forced by you)
on the rear of the 990, this but 1 type of 990, case sizes matter. and not told.
see 1, is that your VGA or is there A VGA card at 2, this matters for DRIVER choices !!!

Appreciate your suggestions!
I'm using Windows 2007, I've connected to VGA port, I, did use factory default reset, the VGA is number1, as shown by you.
I've tried with remote, while using remote there is only one option appearing ie., 1366X768 with projector, but if I,connect monitor then we get to see whole choice of resolution and is selectable.
Video driver is working on LCD monitor - it's possible to select 1024X768, the moment we remove monitor VGA cable and connect to projector VGA cable - it automatically moves to 1366X768 resolution and image is displayed but picture is not sharp, so, I,need to set it to native resolution.
If projector is connected directly to the desktop and deskstop is started, projector doesn't recognize the source.
Thanks again for your time.
Best,
Ramesha

can you tell which VGA port on the PC you are using? IDK, and matters.
VGA ports do not do all resolutions nor all formfactors, 16:9 or 4:3 ratios.. (but 1024 is cake walk on most)
first off is the 990 internet connected so PnP can work? this always first, ! first.
next this is at least an i3, core processor with iGPU , sandy bridge CPU, with iGPU i3-2100 is min.
so what is there. (intel ends i7 support in this GPU this month, so.....that can be a problem going forward)
the inf file tells the OS what it can do. (list)
the Edid chip on the VGA pin with same name (VESA pins) tells the PC what the projector (or monitor) can do and where it is set now.
on modern PCs, the PC can tell the Display or projector to change mode(reso), via that magic chip.
but that takes all drivers working right.
Intel® HD Graphics 2000 is what it has. (me guessing your igPU) no GPU card stated so must ASSuME it is not there.
right click device manager and upgdate this 2000 iGPU
then right click on the projector Icon in device manager and click update this driver (automatically)
this page below shows 1024x768 ways and means,...for the iGPU only!!!
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005540/graphics-drivers.html
this is all there is for intel support on the old old 2000 iGUP (gen2 CPU)
when you see this missing below the driver is no good for the iGPU or the display is reporting no such resolution exists, so force the projector to that resolution then see if W7 see it now? below.
tell what you see above.
the makers of PROJ have software to download at their there web site for this projector did you load that first?
all monitors and some projectors have an device.inf file that tells the PC what the projector can do.
if missing the most times the PC will go to limited choices. (same for missing drivers or like W10 s goes to limphome drivers (very nice too).
The modern world , Pnp does all that from MS. all that.
btw i looked in to MS PNP servers directly no infocus there, must be an underdog, here.?
you might try using free HWinfo32.exe run that (get it first) see what the infocus show up as. there.
for DEV=
and VEN =
codes and we can look for drivers for it. that way,(the hard way can work)
the problem is the maker flat does not spec out VESA support (what levels or anything at all, and is common on projectors as a class)

Try to find the intel HD graphics properties. In win 10 you can see a link by right clicking the desktop, but your OS may be different. There may be an icon in the system tray.
Once you find that, look through it and you may have to create a custom resolution in order to use 1024X768. For some odd reason, HD graphics 2000 seems to want to use 1366X768.

Dell Support Assist is a good source for udating drivers. You might want to do this with the projector plugged in. That way, when Dell Support Assist scans your PC, it may scan that something is amiss.
