OptiPlex 3040, new motherboard?
Can I install another new mainboard in a dell OptiPlex 3040 .if yes which options do I have ?
(The poor out when I read my current mainboard 0ttdmj)

If the main board is defective, only another exact same Dell motherboard will fit and work.
If you want to upgrade, buy a new PC.

It can be done, but not very easy. Dell uses proprietary motherboards, proprietary and undocumented front panel connections, proprietary fans.
If you want to install a non-Dell (standard ATX) motherboard, best to get a new case and just use parts from the Dell.
