Optiplex 3050 MFF 2,5" HDD support?
Is there any knowledge on what drives are supported in a optiplex 3050 MFF?
The owner's manual mentions nothing about which harddisks are supported.
I'm trying to install a 2,5" HPE MM2000GEFRA 2TB HDD, but the BIOS won't recognize it and the drive does not even spin up. There is not a single mechanical sound coming form the drive.
The drive does work in my desktop PC and other drives do work in the optiplex.
It might be a bios setting or the board might not provide enough power (12v might not be available at all)? (the MFF aparently uses hardware similar to notebooks, while 12v isn't that common on 2,5" drives?)
I installed the latest BIOS update.
I found this person succesfully installing a 5TB HDD in a 7070 MFF.
I would like to know which drives will work before buying another one and finding out that too won't work.

No no, the BIOS is working properly. It recognizes all drives I install (and settings are properly stored), except these 2TB drives

The issue seems to be the absence of 12V on the optiplex's sata connector. There's no 3,3 volt, no 12 volt. These pins aren't even connected. Also many ground pins are not connected.
I can't find which voltages are required for the sata standard, but I see no reason for not connecting the ground pins.
I guess I'll go looking for (large) drives which only require 5V.

Do you have a working 2.5” ssd or hdd that is not 2TB to test? Dell validated oem 2.5 hdd includes 1 TB and 500GB.
