Optiplex 3050 micro - CPU performance
Hi - first post. Just bought this little micro to use as a media server, and was surprised at how sluggish it is (despite having the 7th Gen 7500T processor and 8GB Ram). I ran some benchmarks and it was very very low scores - CPU-Z was 350.4 for multi threads. Quick shockingly low. Is this is sign of a failing CPU or are they just like this? Is there anything I should be doing to improve this?

Hi @redxps630,
Can a higher-watt PSU be used with the 3050 micro? The 90w, 130w, and 180w PSU's I mentioned on the first page of this thread look like they all have the same connection. You're the PSU expert more than I am so I thought I'd ask. I think a media server needs more power than 65w.

3050 MFF
seems only 65W is listed. If OP was using 45w it may be the wrong AC adapter.

So, 'drum roll'...new 65w charger arrived and it fixed the problem. Delighted by the difference.
Many many thanks to those of you who gave up their time to answer and help me. I'm frustrated with myself for not thinking beyond the device itself and how the charger can make such a difference. I only think about them in relation to do they produce power and allow it to boot up. Nothing like this effect. Looking closer at the existing charger it was a no brand 45w. Perhaps I was lucky that being underpowered was the only effect I experienced. Treated myself to a brand new Dell charger and count my blessings.
Again many thanks to the forum for your help

You're welcome. : ) Thank you for marking my answer as a solution. While I suspected low power, it was @Chino de Oro that suspected the PSU, so I marked @Chino de Oro's answer as a solution too and good troubleshooting.
It sounds like the seller sent you your micro with the wrong PSU, which was quite careless.

I used a 65W power adapter, the cpu is a g4400t with a TDP of 35W, but he can only run at 10W, I turned on some settings and his frequency didn't drop, but the power is still too low!
