OptiPlex 390 CPU

Question

Hello, I have a Dell OptiPlex 390 with an i5-2400, I am looking to upgrade it to possibly a Xeon processor or a 2500K because I’m getting an eGPU and do not want to be bottlenecked by my 2400. What are the best processors I could upgrade to?

These CPUs should be compatible, though there is no official statement that says so, so try to do some reasearch first. If it's not already, upgrade your BIOS to the latest version.

The top CPU listed is the I5-2400. If you want to center things around having a Xeon, then you might want to look at refurb Dell Precision's.
