Optiplex 5000 Tower, memory upgrade
This has one 16Mb DDR4/3200 fitted on arrival micron/micron slot1. I have added another crucial/micron slot 2. these modules are in the slots with white holders. Is this correct? CPU-Z reports slot 1 as single and slot 2 as dual.
Have I got some thing wrong?
Comments welcome. Have a good Christmas every one

CPUZ can be wrong sometimes.
white slot1 for 1st ram
white slot 2 for second ram of identical spec to make it dual channel
white slot 1 is the #1 slot of channel A
white slot 2 is the #1 slot of channel B

Hi,
Many thanks for this and prompt reply. Thanks for confirming that i was correct in my RAM options. A utility called speccy I found useful in looking at the PC specs. MAybe more accurate that CPUZ?
Have a great festive festive season

sometimes BIOS would show whether it is dual channel vs single channel. I think that is more reliable than third party app.

Hi,
Thanks agian for the useful comment. The BIOS does indeed show this information and confirms dual channel. As you rightly point out more reliable and accurate that apps.
Thanks. Have a very good New Year
