Looking to upgrade the PSU on the Optiplex 5050. It currently has an 180w. Is there a compatible psu over 300w?

I have all the parts but I haven't gotten time to finish the build. I did compare the voltage and amps on the old ps and the new one. It's the same, so it should work. It just had a spare 4 pin cable which will go unused. I'll keep you posted, gonna try to crave out time this weekend to finish it up.

I'm also curious if this will work; did you figure that out yet?

Y7R0X 500w Dell oem psu is a user validated psu for 5050 and likely would work for 3050 too

Hello, I'm hoping to get some help with PSU. I am attempting to upgrade PSU in my Dell Optiplex 5050 SFF. It came with 180w PSU. I attempted to upgrade to 360w PSU that I pulled out of my Dell Optiplex 7080 MT. PSU dimensions are the same size and all connectors fit into the the needed ports in the 5050. However, when I install the new PSU, I get a blinking orange light on the front of the machine when powering on. Machine does not boot, but CPU fan runs at full speed.
Any ideas?

it depends on 360w psu. the one for 7080 has two 4 pin while 5050 has only one 4 pin socket on motherboard. so it may not be compatible. it is a user reported issue. you can try Dell oem 360w that has only one 4 pin. list in forum.
Dell 360w psu (6+4 pin white, 6 pin black) compatible with Inspiron models using 6 pin white connector as well as Optiplex (7050/60/70/80 XE3) and Vostro

The following 360w psu have two white 4 pins and are probably incompatible with Dell motherboard that has only one 4 pin socket, however there seems to be some version of the psu that has only 4 pin white connector which would work.
