OptiPlex 7010 BIOS issues
Hello,
I have an OptiPlex 7010 that has developed a weird issue. When I power it on, it will power itself off after 2sec then it will power itself on and then off after another 2 sec and power on again and so on...
I suspect it could be something to do with BIOS as when I reset it (RTCRST jumper) it powers on just fine. I loaded default BIOS settings but it didnt make any difference so I thought I'd try updating the BIOS (it has A21) but this doesn't seem to be working at all. The upgrade software runs, there's a quick progress bar saying "Preparing BIOS upgrade" and it reboots - no upgrade is actually taking place and no other messages.
The steps I've tried so far -
- Replaced the battery and did RTCRST reset
- Tried a few different ver - A22, A29 the latest) etc
- Tried running it from the WinPE environment - bootable USB flash
- Turned off Intel Virtualisation Technology in BIOS
- Tried doing it with the Dell Command software
Nothing works, it all seems like it runs and updates fine but the BIOS doesn't get updated. Not sure what to try next. Maybe the chip is knackered..? I ran the Dell Hardware Diags and it all came back fine.
Shall I just chuck it in the bin or is it fixable..?
Any advice much appreciated
