optiplex 7020 onboard i7 graphics
OptiPlex 7020
I noticed a lot of people asking about graphics cards for this model computer. But since i have a SFF model i was wondering if the specs from intel are correct that many i7 can run the 4k display. I currently have an i5 that is not rated 4k, and an r5 340x that does not run 60p at 4k. Also has anyone figured out how to run or calibrate bt.2020. it seems to be the color my display is expecting and i have a video player that can output bt.2020 and the colors are perfect on that player.

If you have Intel HD graphics 4600, you could get 4k at 60Hz with displayport direct connect. Using an HDMI converter, it can get 4k at 30Hz, same as your R5 340x.
Wide gamut color on television and color space used in computer monitor are different thing. The 7020 is outdate to even produce chroma YCbCr4:4:4.
You can try madVR for renderer. It will get accurate full range dynamic color for your display.

Would an active display port to hdmi converter allow me to get 60hz. My tv only has hdmi input.

Won't know for certain until you try. Sometimes, the quality of cable does matter. You can also try the colors setting (UHD color) for HDMI input of your TV.
