optiplex 7020 upgrades

Question

i recently got this new pc because it was affordable and i figured i would be able to run some low maintenance games on it (roblox, sims 4, stuff like that) and its been working good, but its a little slow and laggy, which is to be expected from an older model.

this is my first pc and i dont know much (or really anything) about upgrading them. through a little research i thought new memory would be a good option to speed up my computer while also staying in a reasonable price range.

basically what i was hoping is that someone could recommend specific parts for upgrades! im not expecting much out of this pc just want it to run a little faster.

i have a dell optiplex 7020 SFF, not sure about any of the other specs but i could figure it out if needed to help find parts :)

When you say older model but the purchase was for a new system, is this the 7020 SFF with a 14th Gen CPU or the older end of life unit? Not knowing which model you have exactly I would say increase the RAM to at least 16GB and install an SSD if you have an HDD.

I think the OP likely has the legacy EOL 7020 SFF. agree w JO that ssd is a good upgrade.  do a clean Win 10 install.  7020 likely has i5 or i7 cpu Intel 4th gen cpu already.

@JOcean​ i bought it renewed so im not exactly sure if it was modified/upgraded before i had it, but heres what it says in my system information (forgive me, im not good with computer parts and stuff so i really don’t know what im talking about) Dell OptiPlex 7020 Intel Core i5-4590 CPU Installed physical memory 8gb  do you know which ram and ssd would be compatible based off of the information given? if not i can try to figure out more i just dont know where to find it! thank you so much
