Optiplex 7470 HDMI Input and USB Output Questions

I was given an OptiPlex 7470 and have a couple of questions

1) This is the version that has two HDMI ports and one is labeled as the "HDMI in". I have also found the OSD button that is supposed to switch the machine to be a secondary screen. This button doesn't change anything. If I press and hold it then the screen will turn off (while still playing audio) but will not switch to be a monitor for another computer. How do I get it to work as a secondary screen? I use it as a computer for some items but I also have a work laptop (Dell) that I could really use the extra screen with.

From the searching I've done it sounds like maybe it is a graphics card issue? I don't understand what is needed though. Here is what the computer says it is connected to.

2) The one given to me also has a USB 3.0 (male) coming off the base on the back. What is this for?

Over the last two months, I have done extensive searching for the solutions/answers to my questions and nothing I have found applies to the issues I am running into. Please help!

Hello @brittneykitiara , you need to install Dell On-Screen Display Application to control the brightness bar, change the input source, and turn the screen on or off through the OSD button.

All in ones have that hdmi in port for game boxes and other devices--not for use as a monitor. OSD is usually for video adjustments. OSD= On Screen Display. Check the manual - Dell OptiPlex 7470 All-in-One Setup and specifications guide

Also, the USB cable in question could be for optical drive.  Check the base, you may have a Dell adjustable stand with a DVD+/-RW module built-in.

Thank you! This worked! I can't believe I hadn't been able to find that yet.

Regarding the base, it is an adjustable stand with a DVD+/-RW module built-in.

I have a Dell 7470 AOI, but I've forgotten the password after using it for a very long time. Now, I am using it as a monitor, but I don't know how to adjust the brightness. Does anyone know?
