Optiplex 760 SFF upgrade
Hi everyone
A quick peek into the technical guidebook learns me that i could potentially install a intel core2 duo q9650, a dedicated graphics card and 8 GB of DDR2 memory. Would it be possible with my rig or not?
Also I found that the guidebook says all 760 run on 800MHZ DDR2, can I fit 1066MHZ too?

Yes the 760 can support Q9650 (w latest Bios update) and 8 gb ddr2 (4x2 gab). It being SFF can only take a low profile discrete gpu. However the stock psu is 235W only. My old 760 SFF came w an old Dell OEM AMD Radeon HD6350 low profile card that has DMS-59 connector for dual monitor. A small benefit of discrete graphic card is DVI or HDMI connector if you have a relatively high definition monitor better than VGA.
Yes you can use ddr2-1066 (pc2-8500) ram but it might be down-clocked to 800 MHz by the pc running it. Seriously ddr2 is two generations behind the current ddr4 running close to 3000 MHz. The slight benefit of going from ddr2-800 (pc2-6400) to 1066 is hardly noticeable.

Hi
If I were to replace the current Core 2 duo E8400 with a TDP of 65W with a core 2 quad of some sort, could the 235w power supply be able to cope with the 30W TDP difference? Or would It not be able to provide the 95W TDP needed?
