Optiplex 780, Graphics Card Help
I have a dell optiplec 780 (desktop version) and whenever I've tried to install a GPU in the system, it won't detect the GPU, I've tried multiple Gpu's, I've tried a gt 1030, gt710 and a gt 210 and none of them are detected. They work in other systems so I'm not sure if it's a problem with the Pcie x16 slot or if it's a bios or system problem. Can anyone help?

It most likely is the small power supply unit that is less than 300w. All the the gpu's require over 300w.

You have to use older Radeon HD Series aka HD2400, HD3400, HD6700, HD7750, HD8450 or NVIDIA GTX 610, 730, 745, 750, 1050, 1050TI, Some of the GT 710 cards do not work properly. PNY GT1030 does work but will still fry the 240w internal power supply. You are limited to 25W card like a radeon HD 5450 with stock psu.
R series cards DO NOT and WILL NOT ever work because they require UEFI BIOS.
780 cards must be short and single slot and the power supply uses proprietary TINY 24 pin connector.
R serIes cards do not support DOS VESA video mode 103 and therefore are NEVER working. You remove the internal power supply and run wires thru the hole left behind.
Desktop and SFF models cannot use an internal power supply. This is why I highly doubt you upgraded to 500w.
