Optiplex 790 sff PSU upgrade
Hi good day everyone, I'm posting this after a week of searching this forum and the web.
I'm trying to upgrade the PSU and I found a few posts about it here but it gets so technical for me that I get confused and end up understanding nothing lol.
I know I might be asking too much but can someone help me find something that will fit please.
Current PSU dimensions not exactly but really close: 3x3x6 (265w I believe)
Specs that I know:
Dell Optiplex 790 Small Form Factor
Core i5 3.1 GHz Processor
4GB Memory (upgrading to 16 soon)
Win 8.1 pro 64b
SSD SATA III 120 gb
Will ad: MSI geforce 210 1gb DDR3 PCI-express 2.0 GPU
Thank you guys believe me I tried.

Your PSU is 240w according to the 790 Tech Guide. You won't need to upgrade it for a 31w GPU.
PSU upgrades are rarer as most after market PSU's are full size ATX.
What is your exact CPU? Something like "I7-2700k" is an example of a full description. That way, we can check for any potential bottleneck between CPJ and GPU.

Dell is too proprietary for a move like that. MB screwholes won't line up. Wiring for fans and front I/O panel is non-standard. Not that it's completely impossible to switch cases, but it's difficult and rarer.

Has anyone try to replace the case? Like try to move everything to a full size case? That would be cool

@will159
55w GTX 750 should be fine with your 240w PSU. Also, graphics cards don't use max power at all times.

The Fact that when I bought this Refurbished Dell Optiplex 790 the picture on the Amazon showed a MT case, I needed a Replacement ASAP as I was taking a IT Course online at the time and my Dell 780 MT PSU died. When I got it is was a SFF. Not a Fan of SFF. As I know they don't breathe well. SO, I'm currently waiting on a HDD Fan from NewEgg.(Never buying anything from them again). Already Cooked a SSD in it. So I'm looking to swap the case. And I will cause I can. I like Dell's because I have a few of them and they work. Can't run WIndows 11 on it. But I don't care. It's going to be a Server anyway. So looks aren't important, keeping it cool, and Dust free on the inside it a must.
