Optiplex 960 - displayport audio

Hi,

Is anyone aware if Dell Optiplex 960 supports audio? I wish to connect the CPU using display port to HDMI cable.

Please let me know if anyone knows if the displayport of 960 supports audio.

Thanks

Pankaj

cpu = computers. (in India?)

NO OS stated, XP, Vista, W7/8 or 10 or Linux? or? old PC can have any OS< really.

no GPU cards stated, do you have  card, we cant seen inside your PC, and Desktops are very flexible here.

guessing no GPU card.

no case size stated,  960 is not a full model , leaving out the case sizes telling the helper what mother board you have, and also what CPU (using real name of that) the CORE2 quad is BEST.

with Intel Q45 chip set.(This chip runs the DP) for sure. so sound is limited to dell or intel drivers on DP.

MT, DT, SFF  cases all have DP (checked)

Adapters are many , both hand held or full cable adapters, I like hand held best for  for more CHOICES

many sold are no good, so make sure you can take it back, if no good,  (means brick store to me)

here are some.

cure #2 is a new GPU card PCIe with HDMI and DP ports,  is best.  upgrade to that card.

learn that many adapters the most cheap are no good. and vast adapters old ,look on ebay to see that, huge.

the Built in DP , works, with sound I bet. all 3 cases have DP, (had to look that up)

so if the drivers are current and the cable compliant it works.

using HDMI cables that is called and adpater cable, and some work and others do not.

ask your cable maker this, (seller or mfg)

Hi @savvy2,

A while back, I got schooled as to what "CPU" all stands for.  Basically, everything started with "cpu."  CPU case and cpu this and that.  Everything cpu.  It caused me some confusion.  The poster got frustrated with my response and left a Wikipedia link.  And sure enough, everything was CPU this and that.  I thought I saved the bookmark, but must've deleted it.
