Optiplex 3010 CPU and RAM upgrade

would it be possible to upgrade a 3010 to 16gb of ddr3 ram with an i7-3770k? (I am aware the manual says 8gb max but I'm wondering if that was option spec or motherboard max) I have my current specs listed here in the photo, currently running an EVGA 500 watt PSUpc specs.PNG

Both of those questions have been answered in this forum already.  However, like with the RAM, it didn't come without some back & forth.

The 3010 is from a generation whereas some of the models have successfully exceeded RAM specs.  Plus, I can look for what's for sale to see what's current.  I found both - 3010's with 16GB RAM and with the i7-3770.  It doesn't pay to get an i7-3770k as the BIOS doesn't allow for OC.

  • If it’s a 64 bit system, 8gb per slot should work fine.
