Power supply model numbers
Looking for info to decipher the model numbers on Power Supplies (L255AS-00 vs AC180ES-01 ). The first letter or letters I figure is the manufacturer since the L all have Lite-on logos. The next 3 digits are the watts. The next 2 letters look like it may be the form factor or configuration of the power supply. The last 2 digits after the hyphen I figure is the version.
Is that all correct?
My second question is how to I determine which power supplies will work for which computers.
Is there a list that will show compatible power supplies. Like are the AC255AS-00 interchangable with AC255ES-00 or AC255AS-01? We get a lot of use computers and some times the computers have 1 bad part (CPU, Mem, PSU) and the rest is good. It would be nice to know how we can use the power supplies in another computers or replace them with a compatible model already on hand.

There is not an external database. In our internal database, we do not use those manufacturer numbers. We use the Dell OEM 5 digit part numbers which are then assigned to specific Dell Optiplex models.
