Problem with Dell Optiplex AIO 9020

Question

Hi,

My unit cannot be powered up. It has a constant amber led blinking (orange) on the power button. I tried to change the RAM, suddenly it powered up. And now, it happen again, blinking constantly orange. (Blink, pause, blink, pause, blink, pause)

Please advise

Remember to unplug PC anytime working on the inside of it. Otherwise, permanent damage could result.

Blinking amber power light typically means bad PSU (power supply).

You got a green light pressing the PSU test button meaning It has power.

Agree blinking constantly orange is suspicious for failing psu, which can still turn on lights and fans.  test motherboard w another verified working psu.

I did have a PSU do that to me before, work intermittently, restart the PC on its own and so on, until it finally died.  From here, I can't say it's the PSU 100%, but it's very likely.  If you wanted to, a computer shop would have to have the final say.  I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge that's a little strange your troubleshooting brought it back to life temporarily.

i have tried pushing the back button at the psu area, and it goes constant green light so i can consider my psu is ok right?

i open up my unit yesterday. unplug ram, unplug psu and most of the cables inside. i made a little bit cleaning and put all back into its place..and amazingly, my dell powered up..used it a day, and before sleep i shut it down..sadly, it cannot start again and happen as last two days, blinking orange at power button..

blinking, pause, blinking, pause, blinking, pause.

so, it is highly the power supply right?

haha, indeed strange. now, my aio has different blinking changing with the constant orange blinking..at times, it will be: three blinks, pause, two blinks repeated in cycle..totally off from socket for 2 hours, try to power it up, back to constant one blink continously..indeed puzzle me haha

Yeah, i think you are right. I am posting this on my optiplex haha..what a weird thing. Going to backup important data before it went dead totally. Thank you guys. Looks like i need to start survey for psu. Thanks again guys!
