Ram Not Want To Work

so I have a dell optiplex 780 and in my list of upgrades I bought some ram and they are 2 4gb sticks at 1600mhz. I put them in and it didn't work it just beeped at me. is it because the motherboard doesn't like the speed or what? If you are wondering I also put in a core 2 quad q9550 and a gtx 1050ti. Also please dont be one of those people that say get a new pc bc mine is old. thx for your time

You did not state the form factor of the 780 or if you are adding RAM with existing old RAM. The 1600 RAM will run at 1067 and should work depending on the maker of the RAM. If you are mixing RAM makes that could be a problem. Crucial is the most compatible RAM and if it is not Crucial that could be a problem. And Crucial RAM for the 780 is listed here.

And no I am not going to tell you that a 9 year old system is too old. I do all of my computing on a Latitude E5430 which is about the same age as your 780.

Did you install your upgrades one at a time to make sure the PC worked afterwards?

A-Tech is good RAM to use on a somewhat older/older machine.  It's what I run.  It has a lower cost than Crucial, but has a lifetime warranty like Crucial.  A-Tech RAM on Amazon

The above is for if you have either the MT, DT, or SFF.
