Hi
I have a brand new Inspiron 3881 a week ago. If power plug removed, it started with message: time and date not set.

This can happen if it has a defective or improperly installed CMOS Memory (BIOS) back up battery.
As this is new you can let Dell support take care of the problem. But if you want to check it yourself first, the CR2032 battery is located on the motherboard. Page 21 in the Dell service manual details how to remove/install.
