Unsupported Configuration Detected

Question

Hello, I have a Dell Optiplex 780 mini-tower running Windows 10 64-bit and bios A15. I have been trying install an Asus GTX650-DC-1GD5 but when I attempt to boot up the computer I get an error. I can't even F12 or F2 pass this error no matter how many times I try.

"Atention: Unsupported Configuration Detected

Action is Required

This computer has both a display port monitor attached and a card installed in the PCI-express slot 1. This configuration is not supported. Please disconnect the PCI-express card or disconnect the display port monitor."

I have the VGA cable plugged into the graphics card and that's when the monitor gives me the error, the monitor stays black whenever it's plugged into the integrated graphics. Note: I had to use a dual SATA to 6 pin adapter in order to power the card too. Thanks!

You cannot use onboard when a video card is in a slot.

The bios halts the system.

To attach the monitor cable to the add-in graphics card:

1. Shut down the computer
2. Plug the monitor cable into the add-in graphics card connector.

3. Turn on the computer.

This message should not appear after completing these steps.

The integrated video cannot be used when there is a card in the pci slot. The card must be physically removed from the computer to use the integrated video. That card used alone is probably not compatible with your old model computer. You don't have a PCi 3 slot or the required power supply.

from the manual--NOTE: The PCI Express x16 slot is disabled when a display is connected to the
integrated video connector.

I thought cards were backwards compatible? Also, this card only draws 65W of power which should be within the 305W power supply. I could be wrong but I am trying to use the card over the integrated graphics. Thank you!

65w GPU card on 305w PSU should be fine.  Mary is right about the integrated graphics.  Integrated graphics can't be used at the same time as a GPU card.  If card still isn't working, consider that the card may be defective.  As long as you used the PCI-e x16 slot, technically, it should work.

I have once installed a 2GB GT 710 NVIDIA GPU(It was working fine till recently when I was cleaning up my PC), When I reassemble my PC and I attempt to boot up the computer I get an error. @Sizo.P​  Did you try removing the GT 710 and then try VGA on the integrated graphics? If it's 5+ years old, try replacing the size 2032 CMOS battery.  Bad batteries affect BIOS making for some bizarre problems.
