XE3/XE4 BIOS battery drain too fast

I keep encountering BIOS battery drain too fast on XE3/XE4 model from the field then I have to get the battery replaced. Is it normal that it can only last less than two years? Or is there  any BIOS setting that could cause such an issue.

I was using OptiPlex 9020 before it was EOL and didn't see such an issue.

Use Duracell or Energizer batteries.  Sony, though a name brand, only lasted me 2 years.  I never go generic with batteries.

Coin cell or CMOS battery is served as back up power to keep date and time.  If a computer is plugged-in to AC power source while the machine is shutdown, the coin cell battery may last over 5 years due to shelf life, not because of usage.  If a computer is disconnected from AC power source too often during shutdown, the coin cell battery will be drained faster due to frequent usage of back up power.

Take a look "RTC Wake" setting. This setting allows the computer to wake up from sleep mode when the RTC (Real Time Clock) battery is low. If this setting is enabled, the BIOS battery will be drained more quickly than if it is disabled.

Thanks for the Accepted Solution.  A good 2032 battery should last around 5 years.
