Adding memory to R710
We have an R710 server with two CPU's and 16GB of RAM.
The current DIMMS are Dual Rank DDR3 Synchronous Registered (Buffered)/Speed 0.75ns (1333).
The DIMM slots are populated: A2,A3 / A5,A6 / B2,B3 / B5,B6
I have 4-4GB DIMMS that I would like to add to the machine. The type, ranking and speed of the new DIMMS are the same as the existing, only the size is different. The part number is: Samsung M393B5273CH0-CH9.
My plan is to add these DIMMS to slots: A8, A9, B8, B9. This will fill out channels 2 & 3 on both CPU's.
I believe that this plan complies with all of the requirements for adding memory to a R710 as defined by the Dell docs.
Can anyone confirm that this plan will meet all of the Dell guidelines and should be okay to implement?
Thanks for any/all help.

Brhunt,
I believe it will work fine. From your explanation it sounds like you are running Adv ECC mode, or with them mirrored, both of which would allow you to populate the A8, A9, B8, and B9 slots. The only hindrance to populating those slots would be if the dimms were quad ranked or Udimms, then the last channel wouldn't be allowed. Since these are dual ranked Rdimms, that doesn't apply.
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks Chris, I was just looking for another set of eyes on it before I proceeded.
The server is in a datacenter, so I don't have easy access to it.
I just wanted to feel somewhat confident of the outcome before I went to the trouble of scheduling time there.
I will ping back here when I know results.
Thanks.
