Array failed PE4600 erroneous message?

Hi All,

I just upgraded a PE4600 from W2K Advanced Server w/sp4 to W2K3 Enterprise R2/SP2. The upgrade went well with a few glitches that were rectified. This server was still running Dells FAST RAID Utility. I upgraded to Dell Array Manager version 3.6. I uninstalled FAST and all seemed fine until I opened array manager and now it tells me array 2 has failed? The PE4600 has all pertinent firmware up to spec, (bios, raid fw, raid driver, esm, etc). The server has two 146GB drives in RAID 1 sliced into 2 containers, 1 10GB container for the O/S and 1 126 GB container for the data volume. All seems fine on the server, I even ran DSET and the log showed no issues? This has me puzzled since array manager states array 2 or container 2 has failed? Anyone ever see this? Again the server is running great, no amber lights, nothing. Any help is appreciated.

Hi All,

Just to follow up, I ran a Dell provided PE diag utility and this reported that Drive ID-1 was on the way out.

I had this PE4600 configured as a RAID-1, I swapped out drive ID-1 with a spare 146GB drive and rescanned my PERC3/di controller. Rebuild of the array commenced and all was fine. You normally would see an amber light on the server with the drive flashing or something that would register in the Windows sys log. Anyways, all has been fine with my box for the last 10 days.
