Bios upgrade from iDrac

Good morning,

I manage a R610, R710 and R810 servers.

I would update BIOS on these servers. I know that I can do this activity using iDRAC (is it right?).

How can I do it?

Can I upgrade BIOS firmware without create disservice?

Thanks

Federico

You can use Lifecycle Controller to update BIOS on these platforms. More details available on below link (refer Updating Platform section on Page 40)

https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_remote_ent_sys_mgmt/esuprt_rmte_ent_sys_lifecycle_cntrllr/dell-lifecycl-cntrler-v1.6.5_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf

Updating BIOS can not be achieved through iDRAC on G11 servers. You can update BIOS using lifecycle controller without ftp.dell.com. You can use single component DUP option using USB drive for that. Refer  "Local Drive (CD/DVD/USB)" section on page 42

Hello @DELL-Shine K ,

I know that I can't use ftp.dell.com on G11 server anymore.

Is it not possible from iDrac?

Thanks!

Federico
