Broken Power Button

I rarely if ever need to power down my PowerEdge 2600 server.   An occasional reboot, but rarely is the machine powered off.

Anyway this weekend we replaced some circuit brakers in our office and all the electricty was off for about an hour.  I went to power on the server back on and while the button was illuminated (receiving power) it wouldn't turn on regardless of how much I pressed the power button.  Eventually I figured that it had to be a failure with the button and took the front panel off and sure enough the cheap plastic part that makes contact was practically worn, despite it's total lack of use.

So I got the machine back up an running but how do I 'fix' this as the next time I need to use the power button the same problem will occur.

Much thanks,
Glenn

common failure, covered by warranty, if not the part is easily available thru dell spare parts or on ebay. its called

POWER BUTTON SERVICE KIT. easy to change. again, those buttons seem to break more on that system than the rest.

Hi --

I know this is an old post, but I am looking for this part and having a difficult time.  I have several 2500 and 2600 and just need the plastic power button itself.  I have had no luck with Dell or ebay/web, other than to find two possible part numbers:  51FFH - kit, and 51FFHD - button itself.

If anyonehas a source for these buttons I'd appreciate it.

I ordered the following back in December 06 51FFH Service Kit,Power Botton Kit, PowerEdge 2450 $4.95 plus 8 bucks for shipping and tax. This is for just the plastic replacement button itself (which is probably all you need)> Good luck.
