Configuring Memory Please Wait in Dell PE R710
In my one of Dell PE R710 server machine after somedays when i restart the machine its got stuck in "Configuring Memory Please Wait" indefinitely. This machine setup is in Windows 2003 Svr.For this reason i cant login into BIOS.
2ndly, Also in this machine the front LCD control panel doesnt display anything except light up. Also how can i clear any SEL logs and hardware logs.
Pls Advice what should i do now.

I am having the exact same issue on a Dell R610.
After upgrading VMWare from ESX 4.0 to ESX 4.1,
it hung on reboot and is stuck on the "Configuring Memory, please wait" screen. At this point, I cant even get the server to the BIOS. Hope someone replies to this soon with a solution.

Did anyone find a resolution to this? We're having the same issue on 12 r710s, we've tried replacing procs and memory at this point.

After you have installed all of these in order make sure the system comes back up and insert the rest of the RAM in the slots.

I'm not sure if you're still running into this but I was able to chase this one down with a Dell Rep. This was a common problem in previous editions of the BIOS. The Procedure that we followed was as follows:
1) Remove all but the 3 slots of RAM furthest from the CPUs (on each side)
2) Boot up and check BIOS version (6.1.0 is the current)
3) If bios is out of date update it with the following links:
