Confused About Memory Configurations for R710

I'm configuring a Poweredge R710 with two Intel Xeon E5649 processors. I want the fastest 96GB memory configuration possible but I'm confused with all the different choices as some of seem they are the same choice. Here's the selectable options I have for 96GB RAM

  1. 96GB Memory (12x8GB), 1333MHz Dual Ranked LV RDIMMs for 2 Procs, Optimized
  2. 96GB Memory (12x8GB), 1333MHz 2R LV RDIMMs at Std Volt for 2 Proc, Optimized
  3. 96GB Memory (12x8GB), 1333MHz 2R LV RDIMMs at Std Volt for 2P, Optimized
  4. 96GB Memory (12x8GB), 1333MHz 2R LV RDIMMs at Std Volt for 2 Procs, Sparing
  5. 96GB Memory (6x16GB), 1066MHz Quad Ranked LV RDIMMs for 2 Proc, Memory Optimized      
  6. 96GB Memory (6x16GB), 1066MHz Quad Ranked LV RDIMMs for 2 Proc, Sparing
  7. 96GB Memory (6x16GB), 1066MHz Quad Ranked LV RDIMMs operating at SV,2 Processors, Optimized                  
  8. 96GB Memory (6x16GB), 1066MHz Quad Ranked LV RDIMMs operating at SV,2 Processors, Sparing
  9. 96GB Memory (12x8GB), 1333MHz Dual Ranked LV RDIMMs operating at SV,2 Processors, Optimized
  10. 96GB Memory (12x8GB), 1333MHz Dual Ranked LV RDIMMs operating at SV,2 Processors, Sparing

#2, 3, and 9 seem like they are the same options. Am I correct to assume that? I don't know why they are all selectable though.

#4, and 10 seem like they are the same

#5 and 7, and #6 and 8 seem like they are the same

What's the pros/cons of quad ranked vs. dual? and I'm assuming SV is also standard volt. Finally, can someone tell me what optimized means vs sparing?

You are correct about the identical configurations, however it is advisable that you speak to one of our sales consultants to clear off any doubts before placing an order.

With regards to Dual Rank vs Quad Rank, please take note of the following :

For single or dual-rank memory modules:

One memory module per channel supports up to 1333MHz

Two memory modules per channel supports up to 1066MHz. (per BIOS revision on 5/15/09, support was added for two modules per channel at 1333MHz speed.)

Three memory modules per channel are limited to 800MHz regardless of the memory module speed

For quad-rank memory modules:

One memory module per channel supports up to 1066Mhz

Two memory modules per channel are limited to 800MHz, regardless of memory module speed

Thus if you purchase quad rank DIMMs, having 2 Dimms per channel would render it to only 800Mhz speed, while the dual rank configuration could still run at 1066 / 1333Mhz .

Lastly, when enabled, memory sparing allocates and reserves one rank of memory from the installed DIMMs and is large enough to act as spare memory in the event of a memory rank failure where the contents of the failed rank is copied to the spared rank.
