CPU upgrading on a Poweredge 2600

I've purchased two Xeon 2800 dp 1m 533 (SL8GU)

My board is the 533 fsb.  There is an error when booting up.  Is there any way to get these chips to work on my board or do I need to look for other chips.  The 1m 3.0 and 3.2 will work but the 2.8 won't?

Hello,

you wrote "There is an error when booting up", what kind of error ?

After searching for myself cause same issue, I have seen that some 1M processors are not supported by Pe2600 (hardware/compatibility/processor revision restriction).

As you say 2.8G 1M Xeon doesn't look to be supported and validated, but 3.06G or 3.2G 1M work fine.

If you need 2.8G Xeon, you have to choose 512K model (validated by Dell).

However, try to upgrade Bios to last configuration.

Here is a list of working processors on 2600 533Mhz :

2.8G, 512K, 533FSB SKF or D1
3.06GHZ, 512K, 533FSB
3.2GHZ, 1M, 533,
3.2GHZ, 2M, 533FSB
3.06GHZ, 1MB, 533

Hope this help !
