Dell OMSA won't install

Hi

I have a Dell Poweredge 1950 which I am wanting to rebuild with Win Server 2003.

However, each time I try to rebuild - using the Dell Openmanage Server Assistant - it gets as far as the Dell OpenManage screen and then sits with the 'loading.......' message in the main part of the screen indefinitely. I've left it running for 24hrs+ at a time just to rule out a prolonged loading period, and it doesn't go any farther than the loading message.

I presumed it may be a scratched CD or the like, so got my hands on a brand new and unused CD copy of OMSA 5.2 - that produced the same fault. I've also downloaded a newer version of OMSA and burnt it to CD, same problem again. So it doesn't appear to matter which media I use.

I've tried the diagnostics and did a check on both the media and the CD drive, no apparent faults with either. Any other CDs I run in the system load up fine.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks

Unfortunately the installation doesn't even get anywhere near the stage of giving me options - I insert the OMSA disc, boot the server off it and around 40-60 secs later the OMSA screen appears and sits like that infinitely. It never gets any further, or anywhere near asking me for the OS cd.

Tried the 2003 Server CD there and yes it boots up with a blue screen to the point where it says "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer". Should I just go with that options and hit F6 during the load process to install the raid drivers manually?

I downloaded 6.1 Not sure what you mean by utility? It was just the Server Assistant for doing OS installs.

At this point, I would just install from the 2003 disk.

What utiltiy and what version did you download?

SBUU (System Build and Update Utility), SMTD (Systems Management Tools and Documentation, which contains SBUU), and ISM (Installation and Server Management) are all "utilities" for installing the OS, but the latest "utility" and the version you should be using is SBUU (either stand-alone or SMTD):
