Dell PowerEdge R210 II
I have a poweredge r210 that had Windows Server 2012 R2 installed. The hard drive crashed and I am trying to restore from backup.
To restore I must use an install disk and get it to boot and start the install then I can choose the restore option.
My R210 boots and in the Unified Server Configurator I choose to Deploy an OS. The next screen asks me to choose a location for drivers. I choose the CD which contains the OS.
When I click next i get an error that says
Catalog file not found, make sure that the Windows (R) catalog and DELL (TM) update packages for Windows (R) are used".
Do I need to update some firmware or something? I wouldnt think I would need to since Windows 2012 R2 was already installed.
I've tried booting directly to the install media not through Unified Server Configuration but I am getting non bootable media errors. I have tried multiple bootable disks and get the same error for all of them.
Bios Revision is 2.8
UEFI is v2.1
Unified Server Configuration is 1.5.5.18

You should not use the USC if you are performing a restore. The OS installer from the USC creates a RAM drive with OS drivers to help with OS installation. All of those drivers should be in your backup if it is a full backup.
This is what you should troubleshoot. Windows 2012R2 media should be bootable with native drivers. If you can't get anything to boot from a media source, like the optical drive, then try another source, like USB. Also, the boot order is configurable in the system setup. There should also be an option to manually select the boot method during startup, I think it is F12.
