Dell Poweredge R630 Correctable ECC logging limit reached warning

I have a Dell Poweredge R630 / System BIOS: 1.5.4 2015-10-02 that the warranty expired earlier this year. The server was placed into production in 2016 and is slated to be replaced in approximately 45-60 days.

This server has an active alert:

WARNING : Memory Device 1 A 2: Correctable ECC logging limit reached

Is this an indication of bad memory or a needed firmware update?

I haven't had any success in finding this exact issue with this same server in the Knowledge Base nor in this forum so I am interested to find if anyone else has experienced this and what their solution was. Thanks.

INdigital-Mike,

The error is specifically referring to the fact that the logging of the dimm error is disabled. What I would do to isolate the issue is to clear the hardware log, then shut down the server and swap dimm A2 with another matching dimm in the server. If the error moves to the location you moved dimm 2 to then the issue is a bad dimm. If the error stays at the A2 slot after swapping the dimm then the issue is likely the board.

Let me know what you see.

Server was powered down, memory was removed and then reseated, and the server powered on. Currently no memory errors.
