Dell Poweredge SC1435 CPU upgrade

Hey guys I was wondering what the fastest CPU i can put in this server is. The documentation said it accepts opteron 2200 and 2300 series CPU's, but does not go into specifics. I have searched the forums but could not find anything. I appreciate any help!

Alex,

The Sc1435 supports the 2200 and 2300 Opterons. The fastest one we have is the 3.1/2.2GHz AMD Opteron Dual Socket 2379 processor, part number C350R. As well as the 2.8/2.2GHz AMD Opteron Dual Socket 2387, part number T935N.

Let me know if this helps.

Hello,

I have the Sc1435 server and it worked well with 2 2374 Opterons (bios 2.2.5). I also tried with 8389 (2.9GHZ) and it works with no problem. Recently came to my hand Operon 8393 so tried to upgrade to this processor but it was unsuccessful., however it worked fine on one processor. Than i tried to put back my two old 2374s but it didint want to boot with them and similar works fine on one processor.  During boot fans initially slow down than go on max speed. Any idea what it can be ?? Is it possible that 8393 damaged the MB so it work only on one processor now ??

after some research I think the temperature sensor collapsed in my server. It still doesn't work on two processors, on one processor works with both fans in full. HW monitor don't show airflow temperature which is shown in my another sc1435. Is it possible to repair it ??

Hi Community

With all due respect, I would like to ask you some questions about the Dell PowerEdge Server sc1435.

(Old but good) :)

1.) Is the above mentioned Opteron Processor 2379 with the part number C350R, a special Dell version with 3.1 / 2.2 GHz, or is there a spelling error?

The mentioned Opteron Processor 2387, with the part number (part #T935N), seems to have 2.8 / 2.2 GHz.

The other compatible Opteron Processor 2389, with the part number (part #D260R), seems to have 2.9 / 2.2 GHz.

What's about the Opteron 2393 SE, with 3.1/2.2 GHz? Is this Opteron Model compatible with my PowerEdge sc1435 too?

Or exists an PowerEdge sc1435 compatible Opteron processor, with 3.1 / 2.2 GHz, or is the fastest compatible processor, the Opteron 2389 (part #D260R), with 2.9/2.2 GHz?

2.) If I am not wrong, low latency power effcient memory means, 2.0 CAS latency (or less). In my opinion, should exist faster DDR2 memory then 667MHz (maybe 800MHz or faster), to guarantee the bus speed of 2.2GHz, with 2.0 CAS latency (or less). Can you confirm that?

I would be interested to buy two 3.1 / 2.2 GHz Opteron Processors (2393 SE), if they were available from Dell or if not, please tell me, what is the price for two 2389 (part #D260R).

(Or the fastest Processor available for the PowerEdge sc1435)

Also I like to know, how much cost 32Gb Low Latency power effcient DDR2 Memory, the fastes what you have for my PowerEdge sc1435.

I have BIOS Version 2.2.5

In expectation of your answer, I remain with kind regards

Thilo Ebers
