Dell Poweredge T610 - BIOS update not accepted by Lifecycle Controller

The Lifecycle Controller error "Only Dell Update Packages and Windows Update Packages accepted" occurs because you cannot jump straight from BIOS version 2.1.15 to 6.6.0 on an 11th-generation Dell server. The modern Lifecycle Controller cannot safely parse the massive code transition, signature differences, and baseline architectural changes over a 14-year gap without step-up increments

Do not install version 6.6.0 immediately. You must download the "BIOS Non-Packaged" (.exe) versions—not the Windows Update Packages—for the following progression points from the Dell Support Portal:v3.4.1 (Important interim baseline step

Create a Bootable DOS Drive

Plug a small USB flash drive (FAT32 formatted) into a working PE.

Download and run the open-source utility Rufus.

Under Boot selection, select FreeDOS.

Click Start to format the drive.

Copy the three downloaded .exe files directly onto the root directory of the USB drive. Rename them to shorter names like T610_341.exe, T610_640.exe, and T610_660.exe to make typing simple in the command line environment.

Your iDRAC / Lifecycle Controller VersionBecause your BIOS is on version 2.1.15 (released around 2010), your iDRAC6 and Lifecycle Controller firmware are likely also severely outdated.If you update the BIOS to 6.6.0 while leaving an ancient iDRAC version (like v1.x) in place, the fan speeds will permanently lock at 100% noise level, or the server will throw an error stating it cannot communicate with the system management board.If you run into errors while using FreeDOS or need to upgrade the iDRAC firmware to stop loud fans, please reply with your current iDRAC version from the POST screen so I can map out the matching controller updates.
