The HWC8010 error code on a Dell PowerEdge R750xs server indicates that there is a configuration issue with the system's PCIe risers or floating PCIe cards. This error can occur for a number of reasons, including:

  • Incorrect PCIe riser configuration: Ensure that the PCIe risers are installed in the correct slots and that they are compatible with the installed PCIe cards.
  • Missing PCIe riser or floating PCIe card: Check if any PCIe risers or floating PCIe cards are missing from the system. Make sure all required risers and cards are installed and properly connected.
  • Incorrect cabling: Verify that the PCIe cables are securely connected to the risers and PCIe cards. Use the correct cables for the selected PCIe configuration.
  • Damaged PCIe riser or floating PCIe card: If the PCIe riser or floating PCIe card is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
  • BIOS configuration: Check the BIOS settings for the PCIe risers and floating PCIe cards. Ensure that the settings are correct for the installed hardware.

To resolve the HWC8010 error, follow these steps:

  1. Power off the server and unplug the power cord.
  1. Open the server chassis and identify the PCIe risers and floating PCIe cards.
  1. Check the PCIe riser configuration: Ensure that the risers are installed in the correct slots and that they are compatible with the installed PCIe cards. Refer to the Dell PowerEdge R750xs Installation and Service Manual for the correct riser configuration.
  1. Verify PCIe risers and floating PCIe cards: Check for any missing PCIe risers or floating PCIe cards. If any are missing, install the corresponding riser or card.
  1. Inspect PCIe cables: Ensure that the PCIe cables are securely connected to the risers and PCIe cards. Use the correct cables for the selected PCIe configuration. Replace any damaged cables.
  1. Check BIOS settings: Access the BIOS and verify the settings for the PCIe risers and floating PCIe cards. Ensure that the settings match the installed hardware.
  1. Power on the server and observe the POST process: If the error persists, the issue may require further troubleshooting or replacement of faulty components
