CAUTION Dell recommends you to use ECC DIMMs to minimize the risk of uncorrectable system error, data loss and/or silent data corruption. Non-ECC DIMM is not used for mission-critical applications.
NOTE Mixing ECC DIMMs and non-ECC DIMMs is not supported.
NOTE Non-ECC DIMMs are supported only in selected countries, for more information contact your sales representative.

Hi,

The server only supports UDIMM memory. The Samsung memory you shared is a RDIMM. Here are the list of Dell certified memory DPN#.

DK8NX DIMM,16GB,3200,1RX8,16,DDR4,NU Memory, 16GB
R1WG8 DIMM,16GB,3200,1RX8,16,DDR4,EU Memory, 16GB
TP9W1 DIMM,16GB,2666,2RX8,8G,DDR4,NU Memory, 16GB
VDFYD DIMM,16GB,2666,2RX8,8G,DDR4,U Memory, 16GB

Hi,

The Crucial Pro 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM is not officially supported in a single 32GB DIMM configuration by the Dell PowerEdge T40. According to Dell’s technical documentation, the T40 supports up to 64GB using four DDR4 UDIMMs and officially only lists 8GB and 16GB ECC UDIMMs as supported capacities per slot. The specified maximum RAM per DIMM is 16GB, and the supported speed is DDR4-2666.

Using a single 32GB module, even non-ECC, is not confirmed as compatible by Dell. Some third-party vendors list 32GB modules, but these are typically ECC, DDR4-2666, and not guaranteed by Dell. While a Crucial DDR4-3200 module may physically fit and sometimes function (likely downclocking to 2666 MT/s), stability or compatibility in the T40 is not assured, especially with 32GB DIMMs.

For best compatibility and system stability, use 8GB or 16GB DDR4-2666 ECC UDIMMs in any of the T40’s four slots. If attempting to use a 32GB DDR4-3200 Crucial Pro module, proceed with caution, as Dell does not officially support it.
