Disable a DIMM on R610

We have  R610 server which got rebooted and OMSA log shows the following error at the time of reboot.

"Multi-bit memory errors detected on a memory device at location(s) DIMM_A5."

I have enough memory available on the server if I have to disable DIMM_A5 and or DIMM_B5.

Is there any way to disable the Slot A5 (if required B5)?

Server is at remote location and I dont have the option to reseat the DIMM.

I have already run the memtest and it did not find any issue with the DIMM. I have also enabled the memtest at boot time and it did not find the issue with DIMM otherwise system would have diabled it for me.

Hi, thanks for choosing Dell.

Is there any way to disable the Slot A5 (if required B5)?

  • I’m afraid there’s none, you just need to remove the memory module.
