Does PowerEdge M620's NPAR feature work with Citrix XenServer

Hi everyone,

Our system uses Dell PowerEdge blade M620 with "Broadcom 57810-k Dual port 10Gb KR Blade Network Daughter Card". Chassis uses "PowerConnect(TM) M8024-k Switch Module, 24x10GbE Ports".

Does NPAR feature of M620 (partitioning physical NIC into multiple virtual NICs) work with Citrix XenServer? We are planing to use XenServer 6.2.

Thanks,

Long Chu

Hi Long Chu,

It does not look like we have validated the feature on Xenserver. There seems to be conflicting information from Broadcom if it is supported, older versions of the manual show it is, but the most recent version shows the following supported OSes. http://filedownloads.qlogic.com/Files/TempDownlods/88673/Broadcom_NetXtremeII_Server_T7-8.pdf

• Windows Server 2008 family

• Windows Server 2012 family

• Linux 64-bit, RHEL 5.5 and later, SLES11 SP1 and later

• VMware ESX, ESXi 4.1, ESXi 5.0, and ESXi 5.1.
