Doing updates with DUPs and SUU

Question

I have a Dell R710. I am trying to update things on my server. I've tried putting DUPs on a usb, and then when I place that USB stick into my server and pull the updates into LC, it seems to freeze my server. After unplugging it, it unfreezes. I noticed under help, along with the DUPs, it says Windows catalog must be included as well... where can I find this? Is this required?

As for the SUU method, I tried copying the ISO to a file onto USB, then having LC read that, which fails, and also burnt the ISO to a USB, had LC try to read it, which also failed. I also got a CentOS 7 live disk, extracted the files from the SUU linux iso, put it in a folder on the usb along with the centos 7 image, booted into it, and launched the autorun.sh and tried ./suu -g, which failed.

I've been really striking out here, and I would appreciate help moving forward from here on how to proceed.

Let me confirm a couple things with you.

What specifically are you trying to update?

What OS is installed, if any?

What iDrac version/license do you have?

What is the current version of the BIOS and iDrac?

Let me know and I can figure the best way to update.

OS: Proxmox

idrac: 2.90.04

bios: 6.6.0

At a minimum, I need to do idrac firmware, DELL PERC H700, and QLogic BCM57xx and BCM57xxx Network Device Firmware 7.12. I am sure there are other things that need to be updated - is there an automated way of checking/installing updates?

Here is a DUP: ESM_Firmware_KPCCC_WN32_2.92_A00.EXE.

You can extract the catalog from the Server Update Utility (SUU) with Repository Manager and then create the update.

You can find other ways here as well.

As far as the iDrac, you can run the update on a windows based system and then transfer the firmimg.d6 file to the iDrac web gui and update via the Update tab.

I attempted the LC with SUU method. I burned this ISO to a USB stick: SUU-LIN32_17.10.200.209.ISO. Upon choosing Local Drive, then Next, I get this error message: "No Volume available for Local Repository".

Does it matter whether I use the linux or the windows suu version with LCC? I also tried executing this in FreeDOS, but it said it was not able to run in this version of DOS.

Hi, you could either use'File Format: Update Package for MS Windows 64-Bit.' You can update file on iDRAC too.or through SLI: Support Live Image (SLI) is a CentOS ISO image that packages a collection of utilities and diagnostic tools. This is a Linux boot for you need to download redhat Linux file and update.
