DRAC5 - Timeout by connecting over vKVM

Hello,

we have a PowerEdge 2950 with DRAC5. Wenn i try to connet to the Server over the vKVM-Plugin comes the Message "There was an error connecting to the remote system. Reason: A timeout occurred".

I cann access the Webfrontent of DRAC. Why can i not access over the vKVM?

The Firewall on my Client is off.

bye

Hi,

I need to know is this a permanent problem or sporadic? Did the console redirection ever work before?
If yes use the racadm tool with the following syntax to reset the DRAC card:

racadm -r ip address -u username -p password racreset

The DRAC will perform a reset (your configuration will be untouched) and afterwards the redirection should work again.

Hi,

i have use the DRAC card the first time. In the moment I can connect over the vKVM.

Bevore the last connect, I run the "Server Administrator" on the Remote Server. Makes the "Server Administrator" settings on the DRAC card?

Tanks.

no running the ServerAdmin usually does not effect the DRAC card unless you use him to change the configuration under -> Main System Chassis -> Remote Acess -> Configuration.

You should check if the needed ports 5900 and 5900 are open at the drac card. For this use telnet x.x.x.x 5900 (5901). If you can open a connection the port is open if you get the error: connect failed the ports are not open and you cant use the console redirection.

As workaround you can use the racreset when the problem occurs. This should fix it. If the problem persists or it happens to often please contact your local dell support.
