E122C lcd message on poweredge 2950

Question

We have power edge 2950 which is used as server for wincc application. It was running OK. During plant shutdown i shutdown it normally. I switched off its power and use blower fan to remove dust. After cleaning, it's not starting and given error of "E122C CPU" on LCD. I don't know what is this error and why this occur. When the power button is pressed, it tries to start but remain shut giving this error.

Can anybody help me, what's the reason of this error and how it can be removed as it is a critical server. Help needed. Thanks

Not a dumb question.

The server requires slot 1 to be occupied, so if slot 1 is bad, then you are looking at a motherboard replacement to get the system back up and running. If slot 2 is bad, then you would need to replace the motherboard to fix that too, but at least you could run on a single processor until then.

CPU's are normally numbered 1 and 2 on the server, rather than 0 and 1.

If it does this with both processors in slot 1 (in a single processor configuration), then I would plan to replace the motherboard or the server.

Yes. because after this message, amber light goes off and it looked like halted so only message i get is 'E122C CPU'. I will go on with ur suggested steps and hope that it would work.

Also please clarify that in last step, should i remove the processor of CPU 1 and insert processor of  CPU 2  to CPU 1 slot with cpu 2 slot empty?

You can only 'remove' the error by addressing the error that is triggering it. As a CPU is indicated, does it say whether it is CPU 1 or CPU 2?  Is 'E122C CPU' the FULL message on the LCD? You might first try clearing the NVRAM using the jumpers on the motherboard. Next, try removing the second processor, booting with only the first processor in. Next, try swapping the first processor with the second (in slot 1 only).

Basically, you are determining whether either of the processors or slots are bad, so you want to try each processor, one at at time, in slot 1.

thanks.... let's suppose that CPU 1 processor/slot is faulty. Then will it work if i put processor in CPU 2 slot and start it? I am just confused that for starting of system is it mandatory that CPU 1 slot/processor should be ok or cpu2 can work alone if cpu1 is absent. sorry for the dumb question but thanks a lot for ur reply. m anxiously waiting for your reply.

Thanks alot for info. i have been facing another problem now. its redundant server is restarting again & again on the error of e1229 cpu 1 vcore. is this cpu 1 is the master cpu (slot 1 cpu) or it is cpu of slot 2? what should i do now? it works fine for 4 to 5 hours but then restarted & worked fine for 2 to 3 hours after login and this continues till now..... i am waiting for your response. thanks alot.
